Operation Goodwood

Hello There! As a follow on from the D-Day game that was played at the New Buckenham Historical Wargamers Club. earlier this year, the club also put on Operation Goodwood a few weeks ago.

The set up consisted of four parallel tables crossing the Coloumbelles factory railway line and a number of wooded areas and farm complexes.

These included a number of scratchbuilt items such as the above.

In the rules there was a chance of tracked vehicles shedding a track if they crossed the railway line itself and it was impassable to wheeled vehicles. There were plenty of level crossings, suitably covered by the German defences!

Here is another of the farm houses on the table. The British moves started with clearing the minefields on the approach to the battlefield.

The German defences were many and varied and covered many of the key points on the table.

Club members took the opportunity to take photographs before the game got under way. Above is the final table, the Bourguebus Ridge.

Here are some models from one members collection which I recognised. These were made by me in 1995, I managed to find my original order book.

Further photos can be seen here, here and here.
